Twenty-eight-year-old woman of Garden house township has lost her marriage after her husband came across photos of her with her lover posing nude in her phone.
Martha Lungu admitted being in possession of the photos but denied that the man in the picture was her lover. She had a tough time to explain before the Kanyama court and her husband why and how her photos in the nude were found in the phone. Martha told the court that the photos in question were taken at party she attended.
Shadreck Lungu, 29, of Six Miles area told the court that problems in his marriage started when the couple just got married. “At one time, I found a man at Martha’s salon who openly disclosed that he was her boyfriend. The man went on to tell me that he will never stop going out with my wife,” he said.
Shadreck told the court that his wife aborted a six months pregnancy in 2010 without his consent. Shadreck was testifying against Martha whom he has sued for divorce. The couple got married in 2008 and have three children together. Bride price was also paid.
In her defence, Martha told the court that she has never enjoyed her marriage from the beginning. “My husband has not provided any form of support and he does not allow me to start business so that I can support myself. He has on several occasions destroyed the driers at my salon,” she said.
Martha also told the court that Shadreck did not disclose to her that he had four children outside wedlock.
In passing judgement, magistrate Miyanda Banda sitting with Morgan Kayanika granted divorce on grounds that there was no love in their marriage. The court also wondered what kind of a party Martha had gone to. Shadreck was also ordered to pay child maintenance of K 500 monthly with effect from September 30.
