PF chairperson for elections Yamfwa Mukanga says council chairpersons should ensure that party members are not marginalised when it comes to allocation of plots. And PF media director Sunday Chanda has urged party members to continue standing by President Edgar Lungu.
During the launch of intraparty elections in Eastern Province on Monday, Mukanga said party members should benefit from the party.
“At the district level, chairmen of councils, let us ensure that our people get the benefits, you are the people, do you know you can mess up our party because when it is time to give plots mulepela bambi (you are giving other people)! Don’t give the opposition, when it comes to giving inchito, you are chasing our people, no it’s wrong! We should understand these are our parents; our parents need to benefit from us,” he said. “Now in doing all those things, we should know our people but when we are doing all these things you follow the procedure, that’s all. Me, I am not saying you are given dubiously, no it’s procedure but don’t marginalise our people because our people are working hard to sustain our leadership.”
Mukanga said the party would not condone ruffians who insult people but that respect would remain number one. He urged party members to be united so that they did not give room to the enemy.
Mukanga said the party belonged to the structures and that elected leaders such as members of parliament and councillors were their children.
“If some of our children are not behaving well, what do we do? Do we throw them? You can’t throw water with a dirty child together, no. We call them, sit them down, we work together,” he said. “Takwaba mufyashi utamfya umwana ati chapwa tafwaya ukumona, nishi (no parent will chase their child because they do not want to see them; then) you are not a good parent. These councilors, we have put them there, let’s give them the respect and support them. If they make mistakes, let’s sit them down, the same applies to MPs.”
Mukanga said he had been an MP for a long time and that he knew the challenges that parliamentarians faced.
“Some people are saying a lot of things about MPs, nakwata indalama, ku Parliament takwaba indalama (he has a lot of money, there is no money at Parliament). Others they don’t go to the
constituencies because of pressure. You are the parents, let’s sit down with them and work well,” said Mukanga.
And Chanda urged members to give support to President Lungu.
“You know we are being attacked left, right and centre. Let us not be deceived, baletubepa balelemba ifya bufi pali ba President pali party (they are writing lies about the President and the party). Your party is very intact and they know that they can’t win in 2021 so they will fight you., project President Lungu as a corrupt leader, failed leader. Let us stand with the President and not allow this propaganda to drive,” said Chanda.
