The Zambian DNA is greatly concerned on how some Traditional Leaders have betrayed their subjects by engaging in partisan politics. However, Traditional Leaders are supposed to work with the Government of the day in promoting the welfare of their subjects and delivering development to their respective chiefdoms. We expect traditional leaders to play a critical role in the governance of the nation, development process and conflict resolution and not to fall prey to disgruntled elements bent on dividing the nation. We advise Traditional Leaders to take a back seat and refrain from issuing inflammatory statements that hold the potential to put this peaceful country on fire. We also counsel politicians who are in the habit of involving Traditional Leaders in partisan politics for sake of gaining cheap political mileage to refrain from doing do.
