Minister of Communication and Transport, Brian mushimba says government is working at ensuring pirate taxi drivers legalize their business.

Mr. Mushimba disclosed that the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) and the Traffic Department in the Zambia police service have not removed pirate taxi operators owing to the sensitive nature of the issue.

He says government’s worry is that once these illegal taxi operators are removed from the business, they may resort to doing other illegal activities.

Mr. Mushimba has however, advised pirate taxi operators not be too comfortable saying government wants them to legalize their business so that they do not disadvantage those operating legitimately.

He says government does not encourage any illegality, stating that once government finds the solution, no one will be allowed to operate illegally.
