Leakages Annoy Ndhlovu

Leakages are a product of the failed education system, according to Former Transport and Communication Deputy Minister Alfred Ndhlovu.

Ndhlovu said there is nothing political about the Zambian Watchdog exposure of the leaked examination paper, the situation that led to Government postponing the exams, Ndabene School owner Alfred Ndhlovu hassaid.
The Zambian Watchdog, an online publication published the leaked grade nine Mathematics paper two prio to the examination date.
According to the Watchdog, it published the examination papers so that the poor pupils may also have access to the leakages that was circulating on rich kid’s WhatsApp lines.
The investigative Journalism by the Website led to the Ministry of General Education postponing the examinations.
The Watchdog exposure was prio to the one percent pass rate recorded by Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Studies(ZIALE).
A number of teachers across the country have been implicated in the scam, with the PF controlled tabloid, saying it is the UPND behind the exposure of leakage as it is hell bent at painting the Government of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu black.
This was repeated by Presidential Spokesperson Amos Chanda who called it an act of sabotage by the opposition.
But Mr Ndhlovu argues that there is nothing political about the exposure by Zambian Watchdog.
He further argued that leakages have always been and that they were experienced in all the regimes, starting from that of President Kenneth Kaunda.
He said leakages are a product of the failed education system.
“Fumani, Examination leakages are attempts by parents , teachers and pupils themselves to pass even without reading and studying hard for themselves! Leakages started a long time ago, except that culprits have not been penalized sternly. Students involved will pass but their intellectual capacity will be very low,” he said.
He complained that the country is producing mediocre graduate on account of examination cheating.

Mr Ndhlovu added that leakages are a reflection of the miserable results obtained at ZIALE.
“Parents should not cheat themselves that they can turn their children into geniuses by buying them examination paper. It is only through hard work that a pupil can be made a genius,” Mr Ndhlovu said.
The former Deputy Minister said pupils must be taught English with much emphasis because exams are prepared in English.

“…You cannot be a good mathematician if you don’t know English,” he said
Mr Ndhlovu added:”Using Chinese in formal situations like national newspapers is unconstitutional. English is a constitutional language that was chosen to be used in order to strengthen unity of tribes as “One Zambia, One Nation”. Local dialects can be used where that particular tribe exists. Chinese cannot unite Zambians,” Mr Ndhlovu said.
