Opposition Leader Seeks Divorce

Patriots for Economic Progress president Sean Tembo has asked the Lusaka High Court to dissolve his nine-year marriage to Boitumelo Vavani Tembo because the marriage has irretrievably broken down.
According to a divorce petition filed in the High Court, the couple got married in 2009 at the Lusaka City Council and have three daughters aged four, seven and eight.
The petition reads that Mr Tembo lives in Lusaka while his wife is domiciled in Botswana.
Mr and Mrs Tembo last cohabited at plot number 28429 in Gaborone in Botswana.
Mr Tembo is a managing partner at Enosyst Associates in Ngwerere, Lusaka, while Mrs Tembo is a lecturer at University of Botswana.
But Mr Tembo now wants the court to dissolve the marriage on grounds that the couple has continuously lived apart for over two years preceding the presentation of the divorce petition.
“The parties have not cohabited as husband and wife since the petitioner [Mr Tembo] left the matrimonial home in March 2016,” the petition reads.
