EDIFY Hamukale has praised the men of Southern Province for what he termed as tremendous job after 44 babies were born on Christmas Day.
Briefing journalists at the former provincial headquarters in Livingstone yesterday, Hamukale also praised the mothers for successfully giving birth to the Christmas babies.
“As of December 25th at 08:00 hours, Christmas Day itself, Southern Province had recorded 44 Christmas births, 22 of these are boys and 22
are girls and I wish to thank and commend all the husbands and boyfriends in Southern Province for the hard work, for their tremendous job well done,” Hamukale said.
He said Choma district recorded births of four boys and eight girls on Christmas, while Livingstone recorded five boys and three girls.
“Mazabuka had four boys and six girls, Kalomo had five boys and three girls, Namwala had one boy and two girls,” Hamukale said.
He added that Monze, Sinazongwe and Chikankata each recorded the birth of one boy.
Hamukale said the other districts did not have any births recorded on December 25.
“We wish to congratulate all the parents and especially all the mothers who successfully gave birth. There was no death as a result of Christmas babies being born, all the mothers gave birth successfully…we hope they will grow into helpful boys and girls and help grow this nation,” he said.
Hamukale sent journalists into laughter after he asked about areas where no Christmas births were recorded.
“So what do we say about these other places where there are no babies? Our men are not hard working…I know in Choma they are really working hard,” said Hamukale.
