A medical doctor at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) has been taken to court for allegedly failing to pay over K170,000 debt she owes a businessman of Lusaka.
Kennedy Kaumo of New Kasama wants the High Court to compel Sihem Dhifaoui to pay the debt because several attempts to remind her to clear the obligation have failed.
In a statement of claim filed in the High Court, Mr Kaumo states that at all material times he is a businessman while Dr Dhifaoui is a physician at UTH.
He claims that between August 2016 and June this year, he lent some money to Dr Dhifaoui, who has allegedly failed to pay it back.
“The plaintiff [Mr Kaumo] will aver that no payments have been made by the defendant [Dr Dhifaoui] and the current outstanding sum due to the plaintiff stands at K170,500,” the statement of claim reads in part.
Despite several demands issued by Mr Kaumo for Dr Dhifaoui to settle her indebtedness, she has allegedly failed or neglected to pay the outstanding debt, the statement reads further.
Mr Kaumo contends that owing to Dr Dhifaoui’s alleged failure to settle the debt, he has suffered damages and loss.
He is also claiming interest, costs and any other reliefs
