The ruling Patriotic Front has rejected the Sesheke Parliamentary By-election results and will be petitioning the outcome citing violence by the opposition and police brutality.
PF Secretary General, Davis Mwila has accused the United Party for National Development of using physical, violence, magical manipulation and bloodshed to retain the seat.
He adds the opposition used mysterious magical manipulation together with some overzealous policemen who brutalised unarmed PF members in Sesheke.
And Mwila has expressed excitement on the PF scooping all seven ward by-elections in Tuesday’s vote.
Meanwhile, Mwila says his party is looking forward to the Bahati Constituency by-elections, which we shall adequately be prepared for.
Celebrations on the opposition side have taken centre stage with UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema has thanked the people of Sesheke for “embracing the ballot and rejecting the bullets.”
Hichilema has congratulated the electorate across the country for recognising that the ballot is stronger than violence perpetrated by the ruling party using state machinery.
He adds that the youthful incoming Sesheke lawmaker, 34 year old Romeo Kang’ombe represents the younger generation in governance.
