Jailed Former ZAF Commander General Singogo Drops Appeal Against Sentence

FORMER Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Christopher Singogo has withdrawn his appeal to the Court of Appeal against his six years jail sentence upheld against him by the High Court.

He has also discontinued his application for bail which he had filed before the High court pending the determination of his appeal.

According to the notice to withdraw appeal filed in the Court of Appeal on March 20, 2019, Singogo stated that, “Take notice that the appellant here in namely Christopher Albert Singogo hereby discontinues all further proceedings in the above captioned appeal and application for bail pending appeal”

Lieutenant General Singogo had appealed to the Court of Appeal against the High Court’s decision to uphold his six years jail term upheld on him by the Lusaka High Court.

He was in 2009 sentenced to six years by the Magistrates Court for abuse of authority of office involving two generators valued at K85 Million which he bought with the Air Force money and theft by public servant.

The generators were installed at his guesthouses; Wane Guest Lodge in Livingstone and Wasingo Guest Inn at PHI in Lusaka.
