ZESCO Ltd Managing Director Victor Mundende says the proposed electricity tariffs that the company has made to the Energy Regulation Board will have numerous benefits to the Zambian economy saying securing electricity generation, transmission and supply are vital to economic development.

Mr. Mundende also says that ZESCO will be able to improve the delivery of safe and reliable electricity to domestic and commercial customers once the proposal is approved.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Mundende added that the increase in revenue will enable ZESCO to meet its rising cost of operations and attract additional private investment into electricity supply thus making it more competitive and efficient.

He added that the proposed tariffs will attract more investment into the sector.
