Cops Recover Guns Stolen From Former ZICA Boss

POLICE in Lusaka have recovered two rifle guns stolen from former Zambia Institute of Chartered Accounts (ZICA) president Chintu Mulendema which criminals were using to stage robberies.

Seven more guns stolen from another person along with a Zambia Army uniform and motor bike have also been recovered while one person has been arrested in connection with the recoveries.

Zambia police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in a statement yesterday that the two rifle guns were stolen from Mulendema in March 27,2019 around 19:00 hours at his farm in Lusaka West.

Hamoonga revealed that among the the recovered firearms are two pistols, one Air Gun and six riffles along with 228 rounds of ammunition.

“The two rifle guns where stolen from Mr Chintu Mulendema aged 62 years on 27th March,2019 at around 19:00 hours at farm number 5752/M in Chambulumina area in Lusaka west while the rest where stolen from Mr Dominic Bedward aged 45 years of farm number 679 in Kachema area. This occurred on 4th April,2019 between 11:00 to 1600 hours. Police are currently holding one suspect in custody from whom the firearms have been recovered,” Hamoonga explained.
