Lungu Reaches Out To Makululu Church With K100,000 Donation

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has donated K100,000 to St Don Bosco Parish in Kabwe for the completion of the church in Makululu Township. The donation, which sent parishioners in jubilation, is a fulfilment of President Lungu’s pledge after vising the church on March 13 this year. Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga presented the donation on behalf of the head of State to St Don Bosco Parish priest Michael Wzietek at Chiloto Centre after mass yesterday. “This money has come from his Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zambia. He also wants to contribute towards the completion of the church.

He was so happy with what you have done when he visited this parish,” Mr Mushanga said. During his recent visit to the province, Mr Lungu promised St Don Bosco Parish priest Michael Wzietek that he would contribute towards the completion of the church project. Mr Mushanga said President Lungu will soon fulfil the donation of a bus to Chiloto Centre which takes care of orphans and vulnerable children, mostly from Makululu. He said President Lungu wants places of worship to be beautiful and desirable for people to pray in. Mr Mushanga commended the parish for building Chiloto Centre which is taking care of vulnerable children.

“The initiative of establishing Chiloto Children’s Centre aims at building the future of children who come from poor and disadvantaged families,” Mr Mushanga said. He commended the Catholic Church for being the largest non-governmental provider of education and health services in the country. Mr Mushanga said Government will continue to work with the Catholic Church to improve the welfare of the vulnerable. He said the Catholic Church’s teachings of spiritual growth and moral formation and support for peace, social justice, reconciliation and harmony are in line with Government’s development aspirations. And Father Wzietek is indebted to Mr Lungu for the donation.

“You can fail to speak. This is something we didn’t expect to happen today,” he said. “I want to thank the President for this gift he has given us today and I can’t say many things for now,” Fr Wzietek said. Earlier during homily, Fr Wzietek urged Christians to believe in Mary the mother of Jesus and take their prayers to God. He said his prayers to Mary for God’s help has seen Don Bosco upgraded to a parish, giving birth to 10 o
