Chinese Invest $2m In Steel Plant

A Kalulushi based Chinese firm has invested an additional 2 million US dollars to expand its steel production.

General Manager, Li Jiang Zhu said the expansion has been necessitated by increasing demand for steel on the local and international market.

Mr. Jiangzhu said this when he called on Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe in Ndola.

He noted that the company is now expanding into Democratic Republic of Congo market following business linkages that were created during the Copperbelt province expo which was held from June in Ndola.

And Mr. Nundwe said the expo had set a tone for greenfield investment in the province adding that the diversification agenda embarked on is in full gear.

Mr. Nundwe said the Copperbelt provincial administration values every investment and has put modalities to embrace investors.

Meanwhile, Sales and Marketing, Hope Kayula has disclosed in an interview that the new investment has created about 100 new jobs in the district.
