Peruvian Hair Lands Woman In Court

AN effort to keep up with fashion has caught up with an unemployed 40-year-old woman of Makeni Township who has been dragged to court for failing to pay K 1300 for Peruvian hair weave. Getrude Pasikale got Peruvian hair weave from Petronella Kunda, 33 also of Makeni at K 2,650 in September last year and has to date only paid K 1,350 leaving a balance of K 1,300.

Kunda, a physiotherapist by profession was testifying in a case in which she sued Pasikale for payment of K 1,300. “I gave Pasikale Peruvian hair weave worth K 2,650 and she only managed to pay K 1,200. She has been telling me stories since last year when she got the hair,” she said.

Kunda told the court that Pasikale has inconvenienced her business because of withholding her money. She pleaded with the court to compel Pasikale to pay her back the balance so that she can revive her dwindling business. “I have been struggling to make orders because of Pasikale’s delay to pay me back my money. I am appealing to the court to intervene”, A visibly annoyed Kunda said. In her submissions, Pasikale told the court that the only money she owes Kunda is a K 1,100 and not K 1,300. She told the court that she has delayed to pay back the money because things are not okay with her at the moment.

“I am not working. I can only start paying back her money on August 15 when I received some money I am expecting somewhere,” Pasikale said. In passing judgement, magistrate Ruth Masanga sitting with Magistrate Lewis Mumba upheld Kunda’s claim and ordered Pasikale to the K 1,300 in two equal instalments effective August 15.
