WE will not give the PF peace over continued attempts to divide the country on tribal lines, says chief Mukuni.
And President Edgar Lungu’s comments on Tongas have attracted a backlash on Facebook, with one who calls himself Mudukula Mukubi Mudukula writing: ‘Kawalala uyo (There goes a thief).’
Before departing Livingstone on Saturday, President Lungu said a Tonga will one day rule Zambia, but certainly not the one that’s aspiring now, in reference to UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema.
But chief Mukuni of Kazungula, Livingstone and Zimba districts said “this kind of hate speech” had the potential to divide the country.
“I linked President Edgar Lungu’s story to another one that is on social media alleging that the PF government had given permission to Zambia Army commandos to assassinate HH. I feel that he said what he did because he knows that HH won’t be on the ballot paper in 2021 because he will be dead. The PF is talking too about Tongas and harming HH. President Lungu has again clearly shown his hatred for HH and now we hear that they want to kill him. The PF has already assigned assassins to eliminate HH, we’ll not give them peace over attempts to divide us,” Mukuni said.
He said politicians should emulate Democratic Party’s Harry Kalaba in terms of preaching peace and unity across all tribal lines.
“Look at what happened in Bweengwa when fishermen were brutalised recently! This was all a tribal act against the Tongas but unfortunately the majority of the fishermen and women are Bemba, Lozi and not Tonga or Ila,” Mukuni noted. “The PF government used guns and tear-gas to brutalise innocent citizens given space to harvest God’s creation peacefully. We need peace and unity in the nation. Please don’t divide us or send us against each other, we are Zambians and not Tonga or Bemba, Ngoni, Nsenga, Tumbuka, Luchazi, or Lozi.” https://www.themastonline.com/2019/07/30/well-not-give-lungu-peace-over-attempts-to-divide-us-says-mukuni/
