LUSAKA Mayor Miles Sampa has written to the Road Development Agency (RDA) asking it to remove the traffic lights installed on Los Angeles Boulevard near Lusaka Golf Club. Mr Sampa said in an interview that the traffic lights are slowing down the movement of vehicles, thereby affecting economic activities of motorists.
He said half of the city’s population uses Los Angeles Boulevard as they go into and out of town, hence any delay in traffic flow slows economic activities in Lusaka. “I have directed the town clerk to engage RDA on the need to remove or find an alternative place for the traffic lights because they are slowing down traffic flow.
“That is a highway and the flow of traffic should be smooth as opposed to having unnecessary stoppages,” Mr Sampa said. He said there is need for the Lusaka City Council and RDA to work together to avoid inconveniencing motorists.
