Lusaka Man Murdered & Later Burnt By Suspected Girlfriend

Police have opened an inquiry file in the case involving the death of Charles Mwape aged 25 of John Laing compound in Lusaka.

The deceased is reported to have died in a one roomed house belonging to a female identified as Sofia Chisanga aged 23 which caught fire in the early hours of today in John Laing compound.

It is alleged that prior to the fire, there was some noise within the same house as if people where fighting and after noticing the fire, neighbors teamed up and managed to retrieve the deceased who was found with a deep cut on his forehead, suggesting there was physical confrontation.

According to Zambia Police Acting Spokesperson, Danny Mwale, preliminary investigations review that the deceased is suspected to have been murdered and later burnt in the house.

Mr. Mwale says the four suspects Sofia Chisanga, the owner of the house, Sarah Tembo aged 19, Goodson Mulenga aged 19 and Hellen Chimba aged 20 are in police custody to assist with investigations.

He said the relationship between the owner of the house and the deceased is yet to be established.
