Lazy Men Should Not Have Sex, Says Zambian Minister

MEN who do not want to work have no right to engage in sex and should not even think of marrying, Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale has said. Dr Hamukale said Government is tired of men who are only contributing to increasing the population of the country but do not want to take up the responsibility of providing for their families. “A lazy man has no business marrying.

We are tired of having men who are only active in the night but only sleep and loiter around during the day,” he said. Dr Hamukale said this in Kazungula district when he addressed Nyawa chiefdom residents during a donation of maize seed provided by Syngenta recently.

He said women have a role to play in ensuring responsibility among men by turning down relationships or marriage proposals from the lazy ones. Dr Hamukale said it is a Biblical responsibility for a man to provide for his household, failure to which he is not qualified to marry. “Let me emphasise that lazy men have no right to make any woman pregnant.

You need to take stock of your ability as a man before you think of impregnating a woman or marrying,” he said. Dr Hamukale said the country has destitute children because of some individuals who do not want to take up their role of fatherhood. “If you cannot buy food for the children or send them to school, then do not have them. It simply suggests that you are not ready to be a father; you are embarrassing us as men by failing to be who you are supposed to be,” he said.

Dr Hamukale urged men, especially those in villages, to increase their farming hectares this year to contribute to the food security of the province and the country.
