Transparency International Zambia –TIZ- is demanding that government gets to the bottom of the matter and reveal the beneficial owner of the 51 houses in Lusaka’s Chalala area.
TIZ President Reuben Lifuka is of the view that the announcement by Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo that the houses belong to a civil servant in the ministry of finance, Charles Loyana and his wife Susan Sinkala and Copperbelt based lawyer, Chalie Chitala in is not satisfactory.
Mr. Lifuka has told Phoenix News that the announcement by the Home Affairs Minister in parliament does not guarantee progress on the matter because the alleged owner remains a suspect and the nation needs to know who the real owner of the 51 houses is.
And Mr. Lifuka feels that if indeed a civil servant owns the houses together with his wife, it exposes how porous the system is for government workers to own property that cannot be accounted for.
