A 21-YEAR-OLD man of Lusaka West has been taken to court after allegedly being caught in the act with a pregnant pig at a farm. This is in a case Augustine Tanganyika is facing one count of unnatural offence. It is alleged that on September 16 this year, Tanganyika had carnal knowledge of a pig. Yesterday, Tanganyika appeared before Lusaka magistrate Nsunge Chanda and denied committing the offence.

The case was adjourned to November 28 this year for starting of trial. Allegations are that on the material day, Tanganyika went to a farm in Musumpuka village in Chief Mungule’s area. The accused allegedly went to the farm to inquire whether they sell bread rolls but the owner of the premise replied in the negative. It is alleged that the following day, while the owner of the farm was visiting a neighbour, she received a call from a worker who asked her to visit her piggery.

When the unidentified farm owner arrived at her piggery, she allegedly found Tanganyika naked as a farm worker explained how he allegedly found the accused having sex with one of the pregnant pigs. It is alleged that after inspecting the swine, it was discovered that the animal was sexually abused. When asked, Tanganyika allegedly admitted having sex with the animal.

It was at this point that the matter was reported at the police station. Meanwhile, a farm manager of Shibuyunji has been taken to court for allegedly stealing over 120 cattle. This is in a case Short Handulwe, 34, is facing one count of stock theft. It is alleged that between January 1, 2017 and August 29 this year, Handulwe stole 123 cattle worth K600,000 from Inambao Kalaluka. The accused, who is in custody, was not before court when the matter was called yesterday. Lusaka chief resident magistrate Lameck Mwale will hear the case
