ZAM Calls For Transparency In Importation Of Power

The Zambia Association of Manufacturers –ZAM- has called for transparency in the importation of power from South Africa and Mozambique.

ZAM President Ezekiel Sekele says there is need to ensure that the cost sharing when the power comes in does not make higher the cost of doing business than the current status.

Mr Sekele tells Phoenix News that it will be awkward for businesses to pay more for the imported power than using their own means such as generators.

Energy minister Mathew Nkhuwa last week announced that government will speed up the importation of 300 and 100 megawatts of electricity from South Africa and Mozambique respectively.
