Protesting Council Workers Requested to Report Back to Work

The Zambia United Local Authorities Workers Union-ZULAWU- has requested all unionized workers in the 64 local authorities currently on go slow to resume their normal duties.

ZULAWU President Kinsley Zulu says this follows a meeting held by the executive with Labour Minister Joyce Simukoko at which it was resolved that the demands made by the workers can only be resolved through dialogue.

Mr. Zulu says it was also resolved that the principal calls for industrial harmony to be restored in local authorities to pave way for dialogue.

Unionized workers in 64 local authorities’ country resolved to go on a sit-in protest on 21st October, 2019 due to the non-payment of salaries ranging from 1 to 2 months occasioned by the late disbursement of the local government equalization fund.
