PF, UPND Cadres Clash in Mpulungu District

Three Members of the ruling Patriotic Front -PF in Mpulungu are nursing serious gunshot wounds in the District Hospital while three others have been treated and discharged after they were shot at by suspected opposition United Party for National Development-UPND cadres following a fracas.

Northern Province Police Commissioner, Richard Mweene has confirmed the development to Mano News via phone today saying the incident happened last evening around 21:30 hours in Mumila ward when suspected UPND cadres discharged gunshots at the vehicle carrying six PF members.

Commissioner Mweene has disclosed that a homemade short gun is suspected to have been used.

Commissioner Mweene said one person has since been apprehended to help Police with further investigations.

……And in another development, Mpulungu District Commissioner, Dennis Sikazwe has survived a road traffic accident.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Richard Mweene also confirmed this to Mano News stating that the accident occurred when the DC’s vehicle rammed into electric poles that were put on the road by suspected UPND cadres along Chitimbwa road.

The Police Chief adds that Mr. Sikazwe is out of danger while the vehicle has been extensively damaged.

Commissioner Mweene has since warned that perpetrators of violence will be dealt with accordingly.
