Though in Zambezi Magic series’ Mpali, Jairos aka Joel Sakala was kicked out for sleeping with one of his boss’ wife, in real life yesterday, he married one of Nguzu’s wives, Tombi aka Lissy Yambayamba. The Mpali love birds tied the knot at a simple marriage blessing held at St. Ignatius Parish in Lusaka. As per usual trend, Jairos was the first to arrive at about 12:30 hours in a black Jeep. He was immaculately dressed in a white and black Melon Henry suit done by local designer, only known as auntie Christine.
While waiting for his bride, Jairos said he was nervous but happy that he was marrying a very good actress who is down to earth. “I got attracted to her because she is God fearing, beautiful and we all love acting,” he said. Jairos also said his marriage to Tombi would not affect the duo’s acting roles in the famous TV series.
Jairos said he met Tombi two years ago when they were acting in another film, Zedman. Unlike the trend of hosting guests for lunch or dinner, the couple decided to keep it simple by blessing their marriage before going for a photoshoot. Tombi said she was happy because she was marrying a friend and looking forward to a peaceful marriage.
She arrived at the church around 14:00 hours in a Ford Kuger and was donned in crown and a white flowing wedding dress with flat white slippers. The couple held their hands throughout the mass which the priest described as a sign of their love for each other. And blessing the marriage, St Ignatius Parish priest Father Godwin Mulenga told the couple that they were marrying as good partners. He encouraged them to take care and love each other as if it was the last days of their lives.
“You need to take care of this gift of marriage that God has given you. You have to be everything to each other,” he said. Fr Mulenga said for the marriage to succeed they have to depend on God and he urged them to take care of their marriage seriously because they were not acting. He advised the couple to enjoy each other’s company. “It is through marriage that God will bless you, God cannot disappoint and he is God of abundance,” he said. Fr Mulenga advised the bride to respect the husband just like Sarah the wife to Abraham in the Bible did.
“Take care of your husband and let your marriage be an example to others,” he said. Fr Mulenga gave them a sample prayer which they are to read every day. Tombi’s father, Patrick Yambayamba, said God should bless their marriage while Jairos’ father Joel Sakala wished the couple unity in their marriage.
