Lusaka’s Chelstone Water Crisis Worsens

Every morning, as early as 05:30 AM, hundreds of chelstone residents begin their day by jostling to a nearby neighbor who has a borehole to draw water. For the past 2 months, this has become the life of hundreds of Chelstone residents.

On 05 January 2019 residents near Jorazu school in chelstone braved heavy rains which poured from around 09:30 – 10:30 just to make sure they get the most sought after commodity in the area. Some residents spoken to expressed displeasure at the situation and blamed the area member of parliement Nkandu Luo who they angrily alledged was not in touch with what is happening on the ground. They thus vowed to use their vote come 2021 to send their member of parliament into retirement. One resident who chose to remain anonymous expressed shock that such a thing is happening in 2020 in an urban and high cost area like chelstone.
The residents complained that despite the water crisis, LWSC still send bills. They thus appealed to authorities to do something about the water situation in the area considering that its now rain season. It now remains to be seen whether the relevant authorities will respond urgently to the distress call by chelstone residents.

    Your talking about Nkandu Luo, she will soon be on the ground when she installs CCTV cameras, and she will follow the situation from the privacy of her home, the lady is so obsessed with CCTV cameras, soon the privacy of fish will be invaded. University was lucky she left
