Woman Arrested Over Explosives, Drugs

A 52-YEAR-OLD woman in Mwinilunga district has been arrested for allegedly being found with four explosives and an assortment of drugs in her house. Police picked up the woman of Zesco compound, who claims to be a nurse, during an operation conducted in the district. Other unknown chemicals which have since been sent to the Drug Enforcement Commission for analysis were also found in the woman’s house.

This is according to a statement released yesterday by the police public relations unit. The woman allegedly admitted owning the drugs, explosives and unknown chemicals. This was when Deputy Inspector General of Police for administration Eugene Sibote visited Mwinilunga and Ikeleng’e to check on efforts to curb escalated crime in the two districts. Mr Sibote said police will not rest until perpetrators of crime are brought to book.

“We will follow these criminal elements even to their bedrooms to make sure that they are dealt with decisively by ensuring that they face the full wrath of the law,” he said. Mr Sibote commended police officers in the two districts for the job well done so far.

He encouraged the officers to work even harder so that people who are bent on destabilising peace and order of the two districts can be arrested and prosecuted. Mr Sibote is in North-Western Province to analyse the security situation following reports of incidents of people being gassed by unknown criminals.
