A 38 year old Security Guard of Sinazongwe’s Sinankumba village has accused police of beating him to an extent of developing a hearing problem while interrogating him for attempted murder.
Byta FM Court Beat Journalist reports that Frank Chikope is appearing in the Choma Subordinates Court before Class One Magistrate, Muyambango Munukayumbwa on one count of intending to cause the death of Hamukuwa Cooma.
According to court records, Chikope attempted to kill Cooma on 25th November, 2019.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Munukayumbwa has informed Chikope that his court has no jurisdiction to try the offence that he is charged with, but the High Court.
He has since adjourned the matter to 1st April for mention as the prosecution awaits instructions from the Director of Public Prosecution.
The court has further ordered the state to ensure the defendant is given a medical report for treatment at the hospital.
