The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has warned employers not to take the law into their own hands as they make adjustments to mitigate the impact of Covid-19.

ZCTU Secretary General Cosmas Mukuka has urged employers to adhere to resolutions which stakeholders agreed on during the Tripartite Labour Consultative Council on Covid-19.

As part of the resolutions, employers have been asked to limit forced leave and consider granting employees annual leave as prescribed in section 36 of the Employment Code Act No. 3 of 2019.

Mr. Mukuka has also called on ZCTU affiliate unions to be vigilant and ensure that Labour laws are adhered to.
