The Chipata City Council has adopted a by-Law that will allow council health inspectors to arrest and fine mothers who will be found carrying children in public places on their backs without face masks.
The new by-law requires mothers to ensure that their children carried on their backs in public places should also be in face masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Speaking during a full council meeting held today in the Council Chambers, Chipata City Mayor Sinoya Mwale said the councillors effectively approved the new by-law to help fight COVID-19 in the area.
He said a child in public or on the street shall require to wear face mask at all times.
