Arrows win close in on Power…as leaders tumble

Red Arrows boosted their title chances with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Nakambala Leopards in a Week 24 MTN/FAZ Super Division match played at Nkoloma Stadium.

With league leaders Power Dynamos falling 1-0 at home to Forest Rangers, the airmen closed in on the Kitwe side who enjoyed a three point cushion prior to Wednesday’s games.

Adubelo Phiri put Red Arrows ahead in the 35th minute to make clear his team’s intentions.

The two sides went for the half time break with Arrows leading 1-0.

At the resumption of play Lwandamina withdrew Kelvin Musakanya for Songwe Chalwe who had an immediate impact on the game.

With Nakambala struggling Chalwe burst into the 18 area slipping past the Nakambala backline and buried a low shot into the Moses Mapulanga’s right corner to make it 2-0.

Mwape Mwelwa added a third in the 71st minute after neat work from Daniel Sibande.

The win lifts arrows to joint leadership on 44 points but the Zambia Air Force sponsored outfit has an inferior goal difference.

Power’s loss to Forest means they remain rooted on 44 points.

Well done Arrows for quickly recovering from last week’s 4 – 0 bashing at Arthur Davies stadium.Know your opponents and know yourself; in the remaining games you will never be defeated. ‘Chicken George’ stay focussed and keeping on providing principled coaching tactics and other technical aspects of the game.

I feel power Dynamos is not a team that can represent Zambia in the champions league and expect good results. The team is very inconsistent. They would win two games in a row and again lose another two in a row. They are not just up to the required standards.Hard luck to my team Brave Rangers and thumbs up to Arsenal 4 Beating Olympiacos.Gunner for Life.
