Workers at Raven Works and Construction Company downed tools this morning demanding for improved wages and conditions of services.
A check by a Flava fm news crew found workers protesting against what they termed as bad conditions of services with police officers trying keep vigil of the situation.
Those talked to alleged that they report for work as early as 06 hours and knock off as late as 23 hours and have not been paid this month.
They said despite working awkward hours, the workers are not entitled to over time, transport and lunch allowance.
The workers disclosed that they get between K300 and K400, 000 as monthly salaries adding that the company has also introduced unnecessary deductions.
Meanwhile others alleged that they are exposed to vulgar language and women who work as flag ladies are made to sleep with their bosses for them to secure jobs.
They said they have no proper working attires and called on government to look into their plight.
But when contacted for a comment Raven works and Construction company project manager Morne Lubuschagne expressed ignorance over the matter.
However Site Manager Yoan Cukamo said payment was delayed because of elections but assured that some will be paid today and tomorrow.
In a related development, Taxi and Bus drivers in Kitwe have complained over what they termed as poor conditions of service and mistreatment by their employers.
The drivers say their employers do not offer any form of contract or agreement to be signed when they start work and they fear of being fired because there is no job security.
They also disclosed that they can not even manage to take care of there families even to take there own children to better schools because of poor salaries that they get at the month end.
In random interviews with FLAVA FM NEWS yesterday the drivers stressed that there is need for their union to help them sort out there grievances with their employers as there are no benefits when they are fired.
