FRA Board Dissolved, MD Axed As ZNS Gets New Commander

Republican President Michael Sata has with immediate effect dissolved the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) Board.
The President made the announcement this afternoon when he swore in Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander Nathan Mulenga at State House.
“I have dissolved the FRA Board with immediate effect. I have also relieved Professor Loveday Malambo and Lazarus Mawele of their duties in national interest. I bring you someone who has really worked for Zambia, David Matongo to be the new Executive Officer at FRA,” the President said, ”I want all the maize being collected by FRA to be paid for, in full.”
And the President has directed the new ZNS Commander to involve his security wing in the construction of feeder roads.
“Why should maize be soaked when ZNS is there? You are supposed to be the richest wing of the defence forces,” he wondered.

I agree with the president on the part of the national service being involved in road works.ZNS has the right equipment to do that.

FRA can certainly do better. Travelling between Kasempa and Kaoma in August, one could not fail to notice the despondency on the faces of small scale farmers as they waited for the no show FRA to buy their maize, while on the same route, between Kalumwange and Kaoma one met between 10 to 15 landcruisers traverssing the country side in search of votes for Liato and Rupiah. What a shame! What awaste!

This new Executive Officer for FRA, Mr. Matongo, should act fast. I’ve just come from Petauke. There was a heavy down pour of rain most districts of Eastern P. The maize which FRA has bought is soaked and soon it will start germinating. There are no tarpulins covering the bags of maize.

David Matongo, the recent past MP for Pemba, is a deadwood. The fact that he held those portfolios has nothing to do with brilliance. Have we just forgotten that Kaunda gave such positions to balance tribes and purely based on loyalty? He was replaced by Mrs Mutinta Mazoka as he did NOTHING for Pemba as MP for TEN years. Not even one single borehole. This is another mbili yakale appointment. We have so many young Zambians who can deliver, the same old finished politicians are coming back. We will eventually belive that HH had a point. I am still studying Sata and some appointments like this one is just useless. Same old recycled ideas. Vote for a younger generation in 2016.

age has nothing to do with performance especially if work is not to be done manually. who do you think is better manager between Chiluba the young turk and Sata the old guard? Give him chance, he has been in power barely 20 days and we have already seen some results. he cant do everything perfect but he needs our support. the HH you are talking about is just a theorist because if he was serious, he should have stopped politicking and offer alternatives. he will never be the president of this country if he continues with that mentality of l know it all. young chipimo is already offering a better alternative than him. had it not been for his pride, he could be VP and 2016 would automatically been his. bamudala ba Sata tuleya balekeni abalesabaila just sort out Zambia and by the time they will realise we could have crossed with out titanic.

The mess at FRA was created by one Dr. Anthony Mwanaumo who was an MMD cadre to the bone. I wonder where he is now because he must be made to account for the wasted resources and poor planning for the marketing of the bumper harvest. Mr. Lovejoy Malambo just joined FRA a few months ago. The real culprit is the former Mwanaumo…

making declarations without planning is a futile exercise.
    1. How will FRA collect all the maize when they don’t have enough storage shades? You don’t construct shades countrywide in a day or week. We need concrete plans & funding & also plans to recover money spent on building new silos in each major town & shades countrywide.

    2. For ZNS to start construction of feeder roads, funding is needed. Their road construction equipment imported from china is old & most of it broken down.

    3. Govt should pay road contractors on time. It is the root-cause of poor roads in zambia. It’ll improve cash-flow of our local road contractors, create more jobs
    4. RDA should monitor the quality of constructed roads to avoid shoddy works

iwe there are long term and short term plans. FRA can purchase tents within 10 days and distribute to all satelite depots as we await transporting the maize to more secure storage. have u seen how the maize was stacked in some cases? pure negligency, those guys knew that they were going so they were just waiting to be fired. if they were serious, they could have been asking govt for money to buy tents. let them go, we are also waiting for the president to fire MMD cadres like WP PS, Luapula PACO, CB PS, and many more who proved to be RB stoges

Looking back I was also of the strong opinion that Michael Sata was selecting his team on tribal grounds but its clear that the president values individuals with Brilliant track records. What my friend Wanya Wanya is missing in his insistance that Zambia has many brilliant young trained potential chief executives, president or ministers is that most of these guys are like you and I they have no experience, history or track record to speak. Matongo Has 32years of working experience in corporate management. Is firmly grounded in all aspects of
Corporate Management. Has progressed through several positions in the field and acquired wide and
solid experience in the operations of companies. The man Widely travelled internationally and across Zambia.
This experience has been of immense benefit to the politics of the United Party for National
Development in the capacity of Deputy Secretary General, Treasurer-General and Member of
Parliament. Unfortunately individuals like Wanya Wanya above believee based on personal bias that Matongo failed in his tenure as MP of Pemba and hence why he was replaced by HH I have to say this is completely false. The truth about being in opposition in Zambia is that ones ability to carry out developmental plans is hampered by the politics of the ruling party. It very clear that during Mwanawasa’s rule the copperbelt gained and improved at the expense of the Southern Province, later during RB’s presidency the Eastern province began to progress at the expense of all the provinces that voted against the ruling party. For as long as idiologically and politically an area is contolled by an opposition party ruling parties do not do their best to help these areas progress and this is why service delivery in the Southern and western provinces has fallen behind whilst in other parts of the country it has improved it is for the simple reason that the South and West have continaully rejected the rule of the ruling party at the time. Matongo delivered to best of his ability but the forces he was against were the same forces every other opposition MP constantly faces everyday and therefore development in rural opposition strong holds is slow. I agree that HH chose to replace Matongo with Mrs Mazoka in Pemba for compassionate reasons in regard to the memory of Anderson Mazoka but these compassionate reasons also extend to the fact that Mrs Mazoka is his mother inlaw which is nepotism. The basis for choosing leadership should be track record and democracy not family. If leaders were chosen on compassionate grounds all the time We would have made Maureen Mwanawasa the president of Zambia shortly after we lost her Husband. Competition and democracy failed in UPND and that is why HH has been allowed to run for the presidency 3 times he is holding the party hostage with his wealth. The archives of the post news paper online have Matongo profile online just look at the mans credentials and CV for his achievement this job is even a demotion he deserves better for being an indvivdual of integrity, excellence and high moral calibre so much so much so that along with other great men like Levy Mwanawasa he was removed parastatals by the Chiluba era because of his strong character.

This thing of appointing old people with bachelors degree of the 20th century in 21st century will not take us anywhere.Yes Matongo was once ZSIC director but take into fact that they were less qualified people then but now we young people can challenge these mandalas on qualifications. The economics they did in pre-independence is different to the economics we do today.

Personally am more qualified than Matongo but am just 28 years old…Am looking forward for the time when youth will be in the forefront of sharping the destiny of this our beloved Zambia, and the time is soon.yes, the journey is long but the distance is even shorter by each day that passes.Cry my beloved country.

Now if the President wants ZNS to do better, then you should incorporate into their military training business etiquette and management cause surely these guys are lying idle trying to figure out whether they are security or farmers
