FAZ Blocks Construction Of FIFA Project

FAZ is blocking the construction of a FIFA Football for Hope project in the country.

Street Football World (SFW) was tasked by FIFA to identify 20 countries in which the world football mother body was to construct the facility.

In Zambia, three sports organizations – Breakthrough Chiparamba partnered with Sport in Action and Bauleni Sports Academy – to bid for the project.

This followed the failure by the Kalusha Bwalya Foundation to convince SFW had the capacity to run the project.

According to SFW director Dr. Vladimir Borkovic, Zambia had an impressive bid collaborated by three organizations.

Dr Borkovic admitted that the efficient collaboration by the three sports organization in Zambian resulted in a strong and valuable proposition to build a FFH Centre in Lusaka which was to be run under the leadership of BCSA, and including important stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Education.

“That being said, we regret that we are not able to further consider you as a FFH Centre Host candidate. As you know, the FFH Centres project is jointly led by streetfootballworld and FIFA. As part of this collaboration, all FFH Centre Hosts in all countries need to also be endorsed by all stakeholders involved. Due to a complex set of factors, this has unfortunately not been the case in Zambia,” Dr Borkovic stated.

Sources in Zambia have disclosed that the complex factors referred to were emanating from FAZ following the failure by the Kalusha Bwalya Foundation to be considered for the project.

The sources disclosed that while SFW may recommend the successful bidders, FIFA requires that a local football association in the beneficiary state confirms the application.

“In this case, FAZ has refused to recommend that the project be given to the three sports organization who passed the preliminary assessment because they wanted the other foundation to take it up despite failing to convince the other partners,” the source said.

When contacted, FAZ spokerpserson Erick Mwanza who sounded surprised said such projects were not handled by associations.

“I am not aware of that but all I know is that such projects are not done by Football Associations,” Mwanza said.

Kalu is a very selfish man. he is at it again. he blocked Sinkala and Sichone from playing for the national soccer team bcz of jealousy.
he is a wrong chap to lead soccer in Zambia. he has no shame at all he wants everything to himself.

Kalusha is a terrible person. He is too selfish to be a leader. He is juust like Rupia, fyonse kulyamo. If not then kufilila munsenga. Please Kalu do not hold this nation at ransom, we do not awe you anything. What you did as a footballer, we honoured you and we paid you handsomely. Remember, for you to be where you are, there were individuals and institutions that supported you. Please pay back by supporting the young people attain their dreams. Do not kill their dreams, you will be haunted and posterity shall judge you harshly. Grow-up!

what is this FIFA project and how will it benefit the pple of zambia. Obviously, if its about benefiting the zambian pple and not just to benefit fifa, then we have to think twice about letting them do it in our country. If we pple of zambia will benefit, then we should let FIFA bring it on

It’s a very unfortunate situation. I hope the powers that be will correct the situation that is if we still stand the chance. Those of us in leadership positions should mind the type of legacy will leave behind once we get to the other side of the road.
