EXPOSED : SOLDIERS Angry As ZAMBIA ARMY Promotions Marred With Tribalism
SOME Zambia Army soldiers across the country are angry, disappointed and have expressed concern on the growing trend of appointing and promoting soldiers on tribal lines and not on merit.
The soldiers disclosed that newly appointed Zambia Army Commander Lt Gen Mihova is the main culprit who is in the forefront of appointing and elevating some officers and soldiers on tribal lines.
Apparently the wife to the son of a Minister of Defense has also been promoted despite her reputation questioned.
The soldiers complained that some officers are too old to be promoted in what they termed as ‘when will the younger generation’ be promoted.
They have since called on republican President to retire some aging officers who are bearing officers and busy promoting Tribalism.
Below are some of the highlights the soldiers forwarded and highlighted;
“MR PRESIDENT
A. Lt Gen Mihova has appointed the following; Lt Col kabongu appointed Director ordinance and to be promoted to full Colonel , meanwhile the same officer is out of the country on a UN mission for the next 10 months.
B. Lt Col MD Masumba appointed Army HQ Camp Commandant. He is a very junior Lt Col promoted in June 2009 when they are more than 25 very old Senior Lt Cols dating as far back as 2002. He is to become a Colonel.
C. Major Ngimbu and Major Mumbichi as well as Major Muumbi have been promoted to local Lt Col. Major Ngimbu and Mumbichi are tribes mate to Gen Mihova while Major Ntanta Mumbi’s wife’s young sister is married to the Minister of Defense’s Son. Major Mumbichi’s behavior is bad hence the reason why the previous commanders sidelined him even the Former PS Eastern Province Mrs Mwale disliked his ‘unofficer like’ altitude who has now been made to be in charge of the troops at Gonder Barracks.
D. Majoy Wanki and Major Ikowa have been appointed Deputy Regional Commander Southern Province and Deputy Commander College respectively. In southern province there are senior officers who are actually Bemba’s.
E. Major General Lubaya appointed the following based on tribal and ethnic backgrounds Lt Col Hakaningi appointed Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor at the military training establishment of Zambia Miltez and to be promoted to the rank of a full Colonel when there is a Colonel Sikazwe who can not be reporting to a LT Col. It’s a like a commissioner of Police reporting to assistant commissioner of police, it has never happened in the Army before and this is a reciepe for a mutiny and coup.
F. Lt Col Alibuzwi appointed Chief Instructor Army at the Defense College, an equivalence to number two when there is a full Colonel, Should now Colonel Phiri be reporting to a LT Col just because they are tribal cousin to the Deputy Army Commander? This is true drama which calls for serious attention from the commander and the President himself

I just came back from leave from my village only to find such comedy on this funny site. I was taken aback over Lt Col Alubuzwi our physical training instructor for life, SAA instructor at MILTEZ RTC and mention it. Why do you hate ba bwana so much when he always carries our his duties to the expections of his superiors. I am a WO II in the Army today because of his dedication to training. In ABTA Lukanga when I was on training we used to fear him more than the rest of the Instructore put together because he could out run the recruits, could do the obstacle course with us whilst others just knew how to brutalize recruits,took us as a center on grenede throwing range when others used to fear the stick hand grenade, came out fisrt at staff college and appointed team manager GBFC when others where being promoted. At G branch we hear we was doing fine but when it came to promotions some one else his junior was appointed and later promoted…you silly officers who want to spoil the name of our chairman why didnt you comment all this time. We know that for no fault of his he pended for 14 yrs plus as a major that even officers he trained became red collars whilst him remained a major…why didnt you comment..Officers he examined at promex even ended up going past him in promotion but no one said any thing..What has Lt Col ALIBUZWI done to you fake officers? I am a well trained soldier because of him and I will defend him with all my trust because he is qualified for the job. He was commandant in Ndola what next do you want him to become if his juniors at that time are already red collars. Just pray for that the sufferings he was subjected to in the past are forgiven. Lt Col ALIBUZWI my Friends and I Salute you. Keep up with the good job. We know your track record but others are just passangers in the Army no wonder they can waste time to write the nonsense they did. Long live ba bwana ba ALIBUZWI

First and foremost you allowed General Chisushi to destroy the army, employed your children and his step children. Non of you talked. Appointed his kith and kin to all sorts of appointments, sidelined, frustrated and forced into retirement forward looking officers. Now, here is your very own General Lubaya and you are all up in arms, what tribal cousin-ship nonsense is this? Some of those Lt Cols are old boys held back by Chisushi, think before you complain. Of course some names are too close to General Mihowa, but I think Chisushi did worse damage.
The old generals must go. The bad Colonels must still go. I am sure, if you are honest, you know why the so-called seniors could be said to be reporting to their juniors. They are cantankerous and do not perform, just left by Chisushi. You see, the army is not for the Muzungu ani konde and full backs, sorry they are gone, now it’s harder boys.
The Old Regiment feel sorry that this beautiful institution was left to ruin by boot licking commanders and unknowing politicians like RB, FTJ, Rev Shikapwasha and Madam Dora.

Our Army is a sheet place to be. Just compare our messes, barracks and other infrastructure to that of the Air force. We do not know how to run our affairs. We are very very unprofessional.

Im a peace loving Zambian based in the UK and I follow Zambian news very closely.Fellow Zambia we do not need to go through all lessons to learn a lesson.What Rwanda went through in 1994 is enough for us to lesson from.Tribalism brings about deeper hatred that can last generations, why don’t we continue enjoying our chimbuya culture and continue laughing and joking.All peace loving Zambians please stop looking at issues in tribal lines and look at qualifications/merit.And you the bosses,it’s time you also start to think and use your discretion when mixing people in offices,think about junior staff that they should also be cuttered for on a way.Zambian workforce has a lot of old forks who do not need to be in offices anymore, some of them are actually stuck in the past and have failed to catch up with technology and so can not use the computer.We need younger people with fresh minds .Rejuvinate the parliament.

I would like to urge the president commander in chief to take this complaints from soldiers seriously and investigate.coups have succeeded when things are done on tribal lines,there is no smoke without fire.names mentioned has no northerners no easterners.

Mr president please why do you still leave MMD cadas in some government department like police and prisons commission.the people who are their are purely former cadas who has changed colours and now they are civil servants.appoint your own even if you think some are from your tribe hence they deserve to be left, change all government department,we need new faces your excellency.they are still loyal to other selfish people

some tribe still feel they run parallel government,yes i suppose they do because a chain of then who were big fish at RDA managed to burn the evidence in the presence of police just because the inspector general is married from them no wonder, your are disappointed with him.I know you think IG of police is your own but gives you pseudo loyalty,the IG and his deputy are sister and brother in laws and you always get disappointed .liato was arrested just because he is nkoya from kaoma.Those thieves from RDA should be arrested even if they say this is there country.they were allowed to destroy evidence just because they are untouchable.northerners and easterners has been considered criminals for the past 10 ten years and are the same people who say bembas and nyanjas are made for prison, them are not.This people are the majority in civil service hence they even influence the outcome of court cases.MOst of your tribe are in the street(kaponyas) hence those who are lucky to be in the civil service pay the price as they become examples each time they commit offences as they have no protection.President sata bring at list some equality you talked about this in you campaigns.

If atall therez anyone who is so happy about General Mihova’s Appointment am more than happy atleast in history of zambia he is the first Luvale Army Commander wen we were being enlisted no one knew he was going to become a General o wat its God’s time and is complaining pliz channel o your problems according u will be considered hez a very man. Surrender every problem to God he will surely fight your Battle. Hez my brother and has not promoted me why should i worry wen i even know that God’s time is the best. His appointments were based on merrit not on tribal lines you will endup sucrifising o your childrens over a mere Promotion

The precision of the information given shows that indeed this was written by someone within army circles..I however am very disturbed by the fact that someone in uniform can portray such high levels of indiscipline..you know the right channel to take when airing a grievance..the chief of staff is a man of very high integrity..I advise that servicemen and women exhibit The discipline expected of you lest you be singled out and thanked for your service..
