Can Zambians Entrust A Woman For Presidency?

 By Martin Mwango

For sometimes I have been thinking that one time our nation will be ruled by a lady, looking at the number of women who are well educated in our nation. To the contrary women in politics, in music industry and in other social sectors in Zambia have never convinced us to have the potential of been our future leaders. Looking at some women with high profiles and talented you can notice that they have no passion for our mother Zambia.

In Zambia we have rich cultural values and in addition to that Zambia has embraced as well the Christian values that guide our moral life. Now it`s a pity to see the people we look up to, are busy playing against these values and this is making me wonder if really some women have heart for our nation. In a Zambian society a woman has been always respected due to the role she plays as a mother, and someone can agree with me that Zambian mothers are the best mothers in Africa and Zambian government have been in support of a woman to see her going forward. Not too long ago in Zambia we had a “girl child campaign” and from this campaign we saw a lot of development in our societies; a young girl was allowed to go back to school after giving birth, APU classes were introduced in schools. These demonstrated the respect Zambian government has for women.
However, women now in Zambia have become like Musical or Political instruments only, they are like an object (robots, when it is feed with information it goes and off load as it has been feed). If we may ask, where is their dignity and their human norms? Our women we know you have charismatic voices and potential to draw us to your attention but if they go out to demostrarent against homosexual, gender, child abuse etc, please don`t show your bums, breasts or tell the nation how good you are in bed and if you are a musician and you want to preach against child abuse don`t show off your thighs, belly but preach the message while holding onto your values as a woman. Look at the countries like Liberia and Malawi today the president there is a lady and in Kenya we have a woman president in an opposition part and she is standing high chances to rule the nation in future. We too respect you so much, don`t prove yourselves to be housewives only, you can also make it for a good leader of the nation tomorrow.
We are all witness to some women with high positions and talents, how they behavior in the public “poor dressing, adultery, etc. Today we can ask ourselves can we entrust our nation in their hands as head of the state. Women stand up and fight for your identity. God bless our woman.

I am a Zambian student In USA and four times I,have been racially discriminated due to the color of my skin. I felt how BITTER it is to be discriminated as a human being on the content of my color than on my intelligence. So I vowed NOT to discriminate any person created by God period. Stop discriminating women on their gender but on the content of their character (Martin Luther King jr). If we have qualified women (content) like Dr. Maureen Mwanawasa and Dr. Kasseba, the First Lady why not give them chance? By the way we are being put to,shame by our President Sata manner of his governance. 4 more yrs and some months to go with his mediocrity leadership will take our country back. Ministers and those close to him PLEASE advise him to tone his language and start behaving as Statseman, President of the Republic not as an opposition leader.

My Freind, why waste time lecturing on issues that you never have control or influence on.
It is God who gives leadership wether you like it or not. At the moment the almight feel no woman can rule Zambia.
At God’s appointed time, a woman will surely rule, period.
    God bless mother Zambia.

for me the president should have the following qualities. first he must have a masters degree we do not want dull people in statehouse. second he must be young and fresh we do not want old recycled politicians who can die any time . third he must have his own money so that he does not steal. so if you know you do not have any of these qualities no vote for you come 2016

Tonga Bull, Masters degree in what? How many prof have messed up big time? What we need is a leader to be a President period not what what uko. Let me clarify something here, i am well qualified lest you think am lobbying for my position. Leadership has nothing to do with how educated one is but it is in born and of course chosen by God almighty.

@ Kekeke, usually by the time the woman reaches 45 years, she would have reached menopause already, so no more kids.

Am sorry to mention this, but its reality. Tribalism is the major factor in zambia and this has affected the economic growth of our country. Zambia is not only for bembas, tongas and lozis but for all tribes. If only we unite, work together and fight tribalism, intimidation and discrimination trends, yes we can have a female president. Lets respect our mothers’ intellegency.

Time has come for Zambia to be ruled by a female president. My grandmother who has just turned 89 this April, can rule Zambia. She always talks about it. She has great plans. One of them ruling the whole world. Am waiting for that time.

No doubt, Zambia can be led by a female president. What we need to do away with is the phobia that women can’t rule which is in itself a fallacy and baseless perception…

The fact that you even pose this questions just shows how retarded us men can be..

The author may not know, but he still views women as inferior or less capable than men.

Look at the shambles us men have left. Hardly could any woman do worse…

Tonga Bull, leadership including presidency has nothing to do with degrees, age or riches.
Jesus at one point told his followers that who so ever want to be the greatest among you should be the lest and be like a child. This concept can redefine our leadership understanding today. leadership is an inspirational[by God] in-born talent to lead and serve others.

Mr,do you read the Holy Books,Bible and Q’uran? Mind you, a woman is not supposed to stand amongst men and speak, let alone rule. Thats totally feminism and satanic! Ouch God forbid, not our Zambia!!

Leadership is not about degrees or how educated one is. it’s an in-born thing and above all one must have a heart to serve the nation, a desire to bring about change and a person who feels the pains of others and above all must be God fearing.By the way leaders are chosen by God himself and so if he says yes nobody can say no.I think given chance, woman can rule Zambia.

Oh my goodness here is another article by Tumfweko haphazardly all over the place and full of grammatical errors. I am at a point where I would edit these articles for free before they are sent to press. Who talks about “bums and breasts” in such a derogatory manner towards women and to boot on the internet for the world to see! What is wrong with being a housewife and running for politics? Do you know that women are the smartest and most practical when it comes to matters of decision making? Just look at our own Zambian mothers who ran our households on very meager budgets when we were growing up. So stop the stereotyping and concentrate on real issues! Can’t these Tumfweko reporters be a bit more subtle in their criticisms or observations against women? You guys come across as male chauvinists and is it a wonder that the world is so messed up by men? If you want me to be candid about how Zambian male politicians have been ruling the country and running it to the ground I would end up saying the unspeakable but I will not stoop down to Tumfweko’s level. Criticising women as if they are chattels should stop! Sigh, my counsel will just land on deaf egoistic male ears as usual and tomorrow we will see another unedited, error filled article by Tumfweko saying who knows…. desolate and helpless sigh, again!
