The Football Association of Zambia has granted Belgian side FC Gent striker Roger Kola permission to stay away from Wednesday’s Fifa international match between 2002 Fifa World Cup semifinalists South Korea and African champions Zambia. The Red Devils clash with the Chipolopolo at the Anyang Stadium in Seoul. Kick-off is 13:00hours Zambian time which is 20:00hours in Seoul.
FAZ vice president Boniface Mwamelo told fazfootball.com in Seoul that Kola “was not 100% fit and had asked to allowed to stay away as the long distance and flight between Europe and Asia might aggravate his injury”.
“The team has settled very well. We are fine and in very high spirits. We have no injuries except Roger Kola whose team has requested that he be excused because he is no 100% fit and they fear the long distance of travel might aggravate his injury. So we expect to have 19 players in total when Felix arrives tomorrow,” Mwamelo said.
