Uganda Cranes Commence Preps For Chipolopolo

Uganda national team coach Bobby Williamson today named a 23 man team to go into non residential camp ahead of the crunch game against African Champions Zambia in the second leg of the CAF 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier to be played in Kampla – Uganda.

The squad includes foreign based players who are off season as well as locally based players.

Cyprus based Geofrey Massa who missed the first leg due to injury is back in the squad and so is Mussa Mudde.

Other foreign based players who are available to join the local ones are Hassan Wasswa who had a good game in Ndola, Dan Wagaluka, Johnson Bagoole and Mike Sserumaga.

The rest of the players led by tough tackling captain Andrew Mwesigwa are expected to join the squad at least 5 days before the game which will be played at Nambole stadium.

The team will go into non residential camp at Mandela National stadium which is the venue of the match.

Zambia carry a slender 1 – 0 lead into the encounter.

Full Squad:

Goal Keepers: Hamza Muwonge (Vipers FC) & Ali Kimera (SCVU).

Defenders: Godfrey Walusimbi, Nicholas Wadada, Edward Ssali (Vipers FC), Denis Guma, Lawrence Kasadha (SCVU), Simeon Masaba (URA FC), Joseph Ochaya (KCC FC / Asante Kotoko).

Midfielders: Hassan Wasswa (Kayseri, Turkey), Musa Mudde (unattached), Geoffrey Kizito, Moses Oloya, Chrizestom Ntambi (Vietnam), Robert Omunuk (Simba), Johnson Bagoole, Dan Wagaluka (APR, Rwanda), Mike Sserumaga (St. George, Ethiopia), Steven Bengo (SC Villa).

Strikers: Geoffrey Massa (Yenicam, Cyprus), Brian Umony (Vietnam) and Robert Ssentongo (URA FC).

    Let them prepare the copperbullets will prevail.They need 2 goals unanswered which is not possible for them. I beleive the copperbullets will bend the craines to level whereby they won’t be able lift any cargo. GO chipolopolo GOOOOOOO!

    Zambia are not African Chanpions for nothing or by luck,Uganda will have to attack and that will leave them open at the back, it will surely be a god game and sadly we will have to break the hearts of the cranes at there home ground

    @isaac, its not that crane for lifting heavy loads but a bird on their national flag. Nevertheless, it ‘ll be gunned down.

    This is a wake up call for Zambia. Herve Renard Uganda contributed to your being booted out of Angola when Angola lost 3 – 0 in Uganda., prepare the team adquately and make Zambia qualify for the AFCON 2013. It cant be a championship without the holders.

    Yeah bengi bamona kwati CRANE ni chimakaloda, its just their bird like our eagle. Another thing havent you noticed these people their names have too many double “s” ….Massa, Mussa, Sserumaga, Hassan, Wasswa, Ssali, Ssentongo… monga ninjoka! Ssssss all over! we will go there and beat the hell outta these snakes!
