Lusaka Racist Manager Dismisses Over 12 Workers For Being Pregnant And HIV Positive

INNSCOR Zambia Limited workers have accused one of the company managers of alleged abuse and use of racist remarks against Zambian workers who are employed by the food chain outlets in Lusaka.
But the named manager has vehemently refuted the allegations saying people accusing her of being a racist and abusive were being insincere and dishonest.
The workers who stormed the Daily Nation office said the manager was in a habit of insulting and using racist remarks against Zambian workers for no apparent reasons.
They complained that she was also in a habit of firing workers who fell pregnant saying she did not need pregnant workers because they were dirty.
The workers complained that efforts to have the food chain top officials resolve the matter had proved futile as the manager boasted that she was well connected in government and nothing would happen to her.
The workers revealed that so far she has dismissed over 12 workers for being pregnant and HIV positive.
“Ask her why she fired the twelve workers. These people were fired because some refused to condone insults and any abusive language from her while others was because they fell pregnant and when they applied for maternity leave she decided to dismiss them,” the workers alleged.
According to some senior managers, “She is in a habit of harassing workers because of her connection in government. We are even surprised that she has denied insulting, the use racist language.”
The workers have since appealed to the Minister of Labour Fackson Shamenda to pay an impromptu visit to some outlets to see the level of abuse Zambians were subjected to.
But when contacted for a comment the named official denied the allegation saying it was some sour grapes coming from some former employees who were fired for misconduct.
She claimed that she was not in the habit the workers were describing her but that she was a handy person who believed in team work.
General Manager of the food chain outlets Henry Clark could not confirm nor deny the allegations as he decided to remain mute on the matter.
Insiders have also told the Daily Nation that outlet directors have also demanded for a full report in connection with the alleged reports of abuse, insults and racists remarks targeted at some workers.

Abuse could be there but also us zambians should change towards the attitude to work, dedication to work is very important, I have travelled extensively, especially in the civilised country, dismissing a worker because of those allegations might not be true, we killed our own industries after Independence and now we blaming the Presidents who come in the office, We have already started condeming our newly crowned President in just a year, but what are we doing to perform.

He just wants to embarass the PF Governent. Please fire this man. i will reveal his name.

Its not the foreighners that mistreat the workers in this country no, the same Zambians that have the companies have been mistreating the workers like no ones business, and to them its even worse why, they think that to them its okey they can do what ever they want.
There is one of the private schools in lusaka that is firing workers day in day out. Stuated in Northmead.Ever since the minimum wage was introduced it has fired more than 15 workers( teachers and non teachers) Go to this school and see for yourself, owned by the zambian.

those who where fired were fired for a reason apart from pregnancies, if no reason definitely. if not they would have come out in the open and demonstrate because Zambians have learn’t how to demonstrate from election time. Zambia companies worse over in mistreating check companies for so called politicians people get paid when ever they want not at month end. i was a culprit but decided to quite.

much as i hate to say it, there could be some truth in this report. this reportedly racist person says she has connections with the government and nothing can happen to her. surely this is serious and i hope its not true.
If however it is true, i wait to see what MCS’s team will do about this. Racism is not accepted anywhere on earth even though it is so rampant in some areas.

On the other hand, such cases of dismissal as these are better not consdered at face value. Iam sure these 12 employees were fired but for a reason more than just being pregnant/HIV. Surely in this civilised society, some one cannot fire you just because you are pregnant and you even agree to go without putting up a grievance unless you are a drop out grade 5 with no knowledge of any basic sort. there is more to this than the reported reports

This ***** should be recorded. Current workers, when ever she calls you to her office, record the conversation on your phone or a small recorder without her knowledge so that her ass should be held responsible. Wonder why that Chinese was killed…… Bitches like this should be taught a lesson.

Vote fo me in 2016. I will do the foLlowing in 90 days:
    1) Reduce unemployment from the present 70% to 5%. This I will do by firing the boers and Chineese amd employing our own Zambian experts. I will also explore the oil prospects in western province, open up new copper mines in luapula and North western province.
2)Reduce salaries to politicians. No one should go into politics as a form of employment but to serve. That is why there is too much coruption among politicians even these that hide from pronouncements of being alergic to coruption.
3)Raise education standards in this country. Teachers should be better rewarded for their service. That way they wiLl not involve themselves in misschief like teaching halfway and asking pupils to pay for the other half (you know what I mean).
    4) Improve on our imfrastructure, communication (We are having a raw deal from our mobile providers. The service we are getting is appauling. The banks Automated cash teals are also being affected by communication problems)
    5) I can do more fo this my beloved country so come 2016 let us unite and vote for me.A….Wiseman

Now look at the Zambian work culture. Even when we say Zambians are hard workers. Do we really have the guts to envelop the whole nation as a group? & the minimum wage issue, should one be forced to keep 20 workers she can afford?

The PF goverment is very clear in making the workers rights are protected and improved they have shown this in the past one year and i trust that they will handle the issue but it should not be an excuse of laziness because Zambian like recieving on the silverplate work like the china to develop the country

    September 30, 2012 at 7:18 pm

It is not only foreigners who abuse even Zambian employers.I know of a very good man a safety officer who was employed by a Zambian company in Nkana west (Metalcast) who was forcefully and wrongfully accused of inciting workers and dismissed unfairly just because he was lozi. Thank God he sued them and after a long delayed justice the case was in his fever despite again a sheer worst of time because verdict did not equal the punishment.

Awe imwe! A lot of Zambians just have poor work ethic and are very lazy, always quick to shout racism even when they clearly under perform. Lets just be honest with ourselves at times!
