The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is conducting preliminary inquiries on the possible elements of corruption following reports of corruption allegations involving Defense Minister Geoffrey Mwamba and his justice counterpart Wynter Kabimba.
Commission Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono disclosed the development to journalists at a media briefing in Lusaka this morning.
Mr. Moono said the inquiries will be followed by investigation once the element of corruption in the allegations is established.
Media reports have recently accused Mr. Mwamba of soliciting for tenders from Zesco to supply electricity poles, an allegation he has described as cheap and a childish way of doing politics.
On the other hand, Mr Kabimba has been accused of influencing the contracting of Trafigura to supply oil to Zambia
And the ACC spokesperson said the commission has also instituted investigations regarding the alleged corruption in the procurement of oil at Indeni Oil Refinery Company.

Chiluba declared Zambia as a Christian Nation, Confessed publicly and declared that the country would be guided according to biblical principles. What followed next was stealing public funds and other peoples wives while praying very articulate prayers. Sata comes in government declares he will run this country based on the ten commandments and that he is allergic to corruption, what follows….is only for you to guess!!! Rhupia did not pretend…I miss the sicererity of Mwanawasa may his soul rest in eternal peace!!! I always say I cannot trust a politician. The only politician I would trust is myself! God bless U all! And God bless our Great Nation!!

Does holdin a govt office stop one from doin their business? GBM is a reknowned businessman n bein in politics cant elude him that fact.
Da Questin is: Should business pipo stop frm aspiring 4 political offices? Bcoz they’ll no longer do their businesses freely! Shame!

This is just total madness by ACC.GBM and Kabimba are persons working in govt but their registered companies are not govt depts and so are free to do business. If a company goes to ask for business to supply does that constitute corruption? What professional qualifications are required for one to work for ACC because am begining to wonder

corruption should be well defined and explained in zambia because I am worried we dort know what we are fighting for i believe corruption fight is not statement making in media and other information tools,Chiluba, mwanawasa both said they fought corruptions others went to form the task force and fought enamies but uptoday if i was to ask them what was the results they will say we used so much money but no money was recovered,i want to share that to fight corruption Zambia needs to start by changing the mind set of Zambians and young people to grow with good morals, positive, and hard worlk and displine and the ACC should be given resources to go and sentize the Zambians on real corruptions not and what we see in papers were it becames a political game. its not corrution if GBM and KABIMBA through their companies get awarded with contracts because to be given a contract nowadays is a process, unlike in the past were contracts were given at home,in bars or by two people or without appling.Zambians DORT miss USE the word CORRUPTION BUT REPORTS TO ACC BECAUSE every thing will become corruption and will lose focus of development, for me the ACC NEEDS MORE RESOURCES TO MORE DO A COMPAIGHN COUNTRY WIDE ON CORRUPTION OR WE MAINSTREAM IT IN ALL DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES

Martin Petauke. My brother it is true that GBM and Kabimba has the right to tender for govt contracts!! The issue here is whether they used their position to influence or manipulate the awarding of contracts to themselves!! There is no problem them being awarded these contracts if the due tender process up to the contract award is followed proffessionally. My main worry is that African politicians feel politics are a way to enrich themselves. If MCS means well about the fight for corruption, he should ask these gentlemen to step aside to allow ACC to conduct their investigations freely!! Like Mwanawasa did with Arthur Yoyo. How can you freely investigate yo Boss!! God bless U all! And God bless our great Nation!!!
