Without a playmaker the caliber of great Kalu you can only win by a miracle. That is what this current team is lacking- a person with a knack for goals and who can dribble the entire defence single handedly. There are moments when Katongo clearly could have passed the ball instead of shooting wide (and we call this guy the Captain!). Unfortunately this is a bad start and for Ethiopia it is a victory. A game has to be played for 90 minutes and not just the first half. We are complicating our chances statistically for ourselves and start hoping for other teams to lose. It is so annoying.

Bane now that Nigeria has drawn with Burkina Faso we are still in the competition if we take the next game with the seriousness that it deserves. When you play as reigning champs you have to play with some clout i.e. different than the other teams. What we saw today I must admit was below par. That Jacob Mulenga and Chris Katongo napapata do not include them in the starting line up. We cannot afford to be taking a gamble like this at a competition of such magnitude when we have not only a cup but a reputation to defend.
