NetOne is Zambia’s leading service provider for IT solutions from hardware to software, networks to data centers, ERP to business intelligence and cloud computing, the company has been in business for the past five year, but to date none of it local employees has a contract, what does the Zambian labour laws state about this.
Yet all Indian employees are contracted and enjoy benefits such as company cars, with KR 1,500 worth of monthly fuel, housing and child education. The Zambian employees who labor daily for the good of the company get nothing but a basic pay, no transport, accommodation or medical aid.
This Tuesday 26th March 21, 2013. Netone has invited vice president Mr. Guy Scott to the opening of its newest investment, NDATA. What good is the investment that does not benefit the locals?
What’s the ministry of labour doing to help the poor Zambians. I worked for a week before retiring; the company still owes me for my last week at the company.

Let’s hope the power that be are listening and are able to read this. But what I know is that Indians are very educated in IT than most of us Zambians thats why you find most of these IT components are designed and manufactured in India and assembled in China where the labour and vast market is.

Before complaining please think ok.Go to any company including GRZ ministries,Army,ZAF,ZP etc,,,certain conditions of service such as personal car, fuel allowance etc go with positions and some positions require certain qualifications and also actual performance in your job.

Seems most of you are missing the point…why would I employ and bring in an Indian all the way from India to come and fill in the position of Marketing or sales manager?? that Indian will first of all not have any idea abt the Zambian Market?? he or she will rely on the natives to do all the ground work and come out as if its they who did…and yet they are gettn all the benefits that come with their position n yet all the do is sit on their chill iching behinds….Most indian employers have the notion that if they firew one today they will employ another tomorrow, becaouse of the employment crisis we have, n they do employ…bt will that person be suitable for that position…IT industry, you employee someone with a certificste in food n nurtrion js to feel up the post…he o she will fail in that position…n by the time someone with ryt attributes comes to join that org, standards would already been set due to the previous employers.. a standard KR 1500 for a sales person, even when you hold a diploma o degree…and they make sure you agree on the Net pay and only revise when Gov says its time to revise the salary scale…its not ryt, all we saying is that the rightful institutions mandated to look into such matters should take these comments as hints and give surprise visits to such employeers.

It really worries me to hear of such! Why does our government issue work permits for position that can easily be filled by zambian.. Its for this reason unemployment is still on the rise! The labour office must look into such matters! Poor zambians re saffering at the hands of foreigner! Invest is wellcome but it should come with good cobditions! The cost of living is high. People should be rewarded accordingly… Kambwili we miss u!!!
