Gov’t Should Consider Consulting S/Servants When It Comes To Policy Making- PF Member

It is interesting to make this observation about the composition of Cabinet who
are the policy makers.

Cabinet is made up of MPs whose qualifications in most cases are lower because
only a few individuals with meaningful education do stand for elections .

Cabinet decisions become meaningful when the cabinet part of politicians who are
ministers, vice president and president allow the views of technolocrats heard
and respected. Now the sad part of it is that in the name of policies for the
party, politicians view civil servants as enemies of the state, who usually are
viewed as working against the government.

When there is uninterrupted consultation of all stakeholders, not looking at
certain areas of society as enemies ,then the decisions made will be sensitive
to the plight of poor people..Yes,as much as the PF government wants to spread
development by using the resources meant for subsidies,it should not run at the
speed it is running to achieve its dream. Speed kills. Rome was not built in a
day.

Consulting multinationals is not a good move some times. These institutions are
there to suppress poor nations. They are not happy with the progress we have
made so far. They would rather sway you in a direction where you will go begging
to them again.

The government should learn to consult fellow Zambians irrespective of where one
belongs because Zambia is for all of us.It is not good to be defensive at all
times especially that the cabinet will not feel the effect these subsidies have
brought because almost everything they use are paid for..

We need true patriotism and sensitivity to the poor who elected us into
Government.Let the cabinet try to walk down the streets, not driving and hear and
see the pain on the faces of the electorates.

I urge you people to think twice as your hasty decisions in the name of
spreading development to all parts of zambia;which is good, will make us
unpopular and a one term Party which I would not like to see because I
campaigned to see my Party grow like ANC of South Africa.

I thank you.

Plz, top c/servants are usually consulted. In fact they moot the idea(s). Except most of them are either compromised, politically aligned & allied, fearful, etc. One wishes we’d zambians who are God-fearing & selfless.
