The Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC- has arrested former Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission -CEEC)-Finance Director, Dean Chanda ,and Director of Schubert Investments Limited, Schubert Musonda for Corrupt practices involving One Thousand Kwacha.
The two have since been charged and arrested.
In count 1, details are that between 1st June, 2010 and 30th June, 2010, Mr. Chanda, 46, of Plot Number 7264/M Makeni, in Lusaka corruptly obtained One Thousand Kwacha cheque gratification from Schubert Investment Ltd as a reward for himself for having facilitated for the issuance of a Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission loan to Schubert Investments Ltd.
In count 2, details are that between 1st June 2010 and 30th June 2010 Mr. Musonda, 42, of House Number 29, Ndeke Village in Kitwe jointly with his Company Schubert Investments Ltd, corruptly gave the cheque gratification to Mr. Chanda for having facilitated the issuance of a loan to Schubert Investments Ltd.
The duo who has since been released on Bond will appear in court soon.

So it is One Thousand Kwacha (One Million Kwacha old money). But still more it is too little ba Chanda nabo as gratification at his then level as Director of Finance. Unless the reporter got the figures wrong.

But there are millions of citizens out there who got loans from CEEC who have not paid back. This is a fact. Infact if a research had to be carried out, it will be discovered that 80% of these people have not paid back the loans and are roaming the streets free!! Most of them say the money is free. How can it be free when others who rightly qualified for this money were not given and only a few friends, relative, etc benefited. If the money is free, then CEEC should have gotten the number of people in Zambia and then divide that number by the money that was scheduled for loans and give every single Zambian their share!! I implore the concerned authorities to ensure that such people pay back their loans. We know them.
