Chipolopolo Storm CECAFA Quarterfinals

A brace each by Bornwell Mwape and Festus Mbewe against Somalia propelled the Chipolopolo boys into the quarterfinals of the ongoing CECAFA Senior challenges taking place in Kenya.

Zambia playing opponents who rarely threatened were already leading two goals to nil in the first four minutes of the game with goals coming in the 2nd and 4th minutes courtesy of Bornwell Mwape and Festus Mbewe respectively.

Zambia who dominated their opponents scored the other two goals in the 56th and 69th minutes through Mwape and Mbewe who capitalized on poor defending by the Somalians.

The 4-nil win by Zambia was the biggest by any team at the tournament so far, and gives Patrice Beameulle’s boys confidence going into the quarter finals.

The win was the second one for the Frenchman who has lost three games and drawing one since replacing compatriot Herve Renard.

Festus Mbewe emerged as man of the match.
