Zambia Youth Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) has commended president Michael Sata for dismissing the nurses who went on strike.
ZYAFAC Executive Director Rickson Kanema has told Qfm News that his organization is not ashamed for having called on President Sata to dismiss the workers for failing to beat the ultimatum given to them to go back to work.
Mr. Kanema explains that it is unfortunate that the nurses did not consider the many patients who desperately needed their services when they staged a 10 day strike.
He has since called on other nurses that have remained in the service to ensure that they deliver to the expectations of government than taking the patients for granted.
And Mr. Kanema says there is need for the ministry of Health to come up with drastic measures to get rid of all health workers who put money as first priority at the neglect innocent patients.

When they were on strike, those guys to manage standing and shouting for salary increment they must have eaten, so what you are saying CK is not real, they deserve it,imagine it was your relative admitted and those nurses shouting nonsense outside and your relative battling for life inside does it sound helpful.Work first Money later

The action of our nurses reveled the mind of a person uwikwite more than enough. The heart pride alwayz points to distraction; nursez are not the only onez working to get more money, we have more hamble gorvament workerz. Now, you showed us your staborniness pa mwela; come again, we are weting to see you dancing on our headlinz. Insansa shinya ubulanda, mumembe eminine aletelela abekele. Bane..if u hav gone abroad, u wil appreciate wat our own nurses do here in Zambia..u wil find 1 nurse against 30 to 40 patients in a ward..all depend on her..and 1 nurse at a rural health centre managing a community of abt 5000 to 10000 pipo in shangombo..or in nchelenge..bt abroad whch nurse can do o dat work our own do? The patient nurse ratio is too too high..here in zambia.Ladies and gentlemen..firing is not a solution..a nurse is a mainstay of de hospital.

I would advice that those nurses who were in that strike ,be given chance to go and work I rural areas and let those in the rural places to come and work in the city give them those vacancies , allow those in shangombo nabwalya katete etc , come to lusaka especialy if they are dedicated to their work

This is classic when a total failure hiding in the name of some ****** organization can have the guts to insults well trained and serving members of the society. The day this ***** will be ailing and asking a health worker to attend to him.., tell him to go back and cure himself. What makes him sing praise to some lunatic leader if he is not using stomach and hunt for money! One wonders who gives such an imbecile platform to talk crap. Get rid of failures in some of these NGOs with no head but just using stomach to think!

SOME OF THESE SO CALLED NGOs ARE SPONSORED CONGOLESE. THE BEST THE GOVT CAN DO IS TO INVEST IN THE HEALTH SECTOR. ANYWAY, UKWA HAS INDIA AND UK FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION AND CHANGING OF HIS URINE BAGS. THE WORST IS YET TO COME UNDER THIS LEADERSHIP. 2016, BANTU BAZAPAYANA COZ UKWA WILL REFUSE TO LEAVE STATE HOUSE.

Firing is not the solution people should learn to talk we understand that the nurses were promised that come october 2013 the salaries will be hiked after the complained over the september salary hike the got.Now when the saw things were not happening the had to sit and wait for the promise. people our nurses some work like hell we should ask the PF to bring our nurses back coz we have a shortfall already and then we fire some its not the answer.

DESPITE THE WORK LOAD NURSES SHUD HAVE A HUMAN HEART. IT IS INHUMAN TO SIT OUTSIDE WHILST OTHER HUMAN BEINGS ARE LOSING LIVES.
HEARTLESS NURSES NEEDED TO BE FIRED. WE NEED NURSES WITH A HEART TO SAVE LIVES.

GOV’T BEGGED THESE NURSES TO RESUME WORK, THEY REFUSED. FIRING THEM IS RIGHT.
THEY ARE IN UTH FOR MONEY ONLY;THEY HAVE NO HEARTS FOR FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS.
THEY HAVE NO PARTION TO SAVE LIVES.ONLY THOSE WITH HEARTS TO SAVE LIVES SHUD BE ACCEPTED BACK.

It has come to my attention that most of the people commenting on this issue are riffrafs, dander heads who cant analyse this issue of nurses from economical point of view…i think pipo nid to be sensitised about monetory polices and many more issues to do with the country’s economy. The president made a very wise decision. if nurses chose their careers based on marginal revenue beta pursue programs that permmit so e.g engineering, law or accounts.
