Former Zambia Railways Limited Chief Executive officer Professor Clive Chirwa has threatened to denounce his Zambian citizenship if his passport is not given back to him within 24 hours to enable him travel to see his family and attend the funeral of former South African president Nelson Mandela.
Prof Chirwa who is facing corruption charges in the courts of law has told QFM News in a walk-in interview that he has not seen his family for a year now, owing to what he has described as imprisonment for the sacrifice he made to come and serve the Zambian people.
He has pleaded for his passport to be released so that he can travel to visit his family, his hero Nelson Mandela and all the democrats.
Professor Chirwa says he has done nothing wrong to Zambia, as he is a clean man of dignified stance who only came to help.
He says Zambia has never appreciated his contribution, hence the request to be allowed to go and enjoy the freedom he had before he answered the call from President Sata to come and help the country.

There is a big difference between “denounce” and “renounce” – like between night and day!! But I guess Tumfweko would not know the difference.

why can’t Zambian courts deal with chirwa’s case a little faster .you see, he wants his freedom to be respected which to me is a fair expectation of a citizen from the country’s justice system. If he has a case to answer give him the opportunity to answer more speedily. It would certainly be unwise to break his heart in this way. However if the court’s verdict is that of being guilty ,again let him be held accountable fast.

“A little faster”? Stop joking. Same speed for all, in law!

Ok, What did this man do? I thought government signed an agreement with him and to pay him thousands for his position-maybe I’m wrong.

Prof. Chirwa is crazy! Renounce your citizenship…so what? Nobody will get bothered with your personal decision. I am sure you do not belong to Zambia…I doubt if you even know your parents village.
