Preparations to Hold Constitution Indaba on Course – SACCORD

The preparations to hold the constitution Indaba slated for the 30th of April are on Course.
The Constitution Indaba which is being organized by the Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is meant to build consensus on the current constitutional making process.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has told Qfm news that apart from opposition political parties, Civil Society organizations and the Church, his organization is sure that government will be ably represented as Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba has already indicated that he will attend.

And responding to criticism that the said Constitution Indaba may achieve nothing, Mr. Cheembe says his organization is fully aware that in a Democracy like that of Zambia such criticism is always expected.

He says his organization is however not deterred from organising the Constitution Indaba as what it is merely doing is to provide a forum where various stakeholders will discuss the way forward regarding the country’s constitutional making process.

The SACCORD Executive Director says with the Constitution Indaba his organization holds the hope that a way will be found in terms of having the country’s new constitution enacted.
