STATE House says investigations into the Mukula logs incident on Kafue Road have been concluded and that a comprehensive statement will be issued soon.
State House spokesperson Amos Chanda stated this afternoon that President Edgar Lungu had been informed of the incident which occurred last night where some individuals stopped trucks carrying Mukula logs on Kafue Road.
“Investigations into the matter were immediately instituted by the Joint Operations Committee (JOC) involving various security wings tasked to control the illegal tracking of Mukula logs,” stated Chanda.
“The Committee has since completed their investigations and will soon be issuing a comprehensive statement on the matter.”
A group of PF cadres last night intercepted several trucks transporting Mukula logs, with police escort.
The cadres, who captured videos of the incident after impounding the trucks at Shimabala toll gates in Kafue, wondered why some people were exporting Mukula when the government had imposed a ban on the trade.
The police officers who were escorting the trucks could not clearly explain the matter to the cadres who put them to task.
Kapata recently indicated during the PF interactive forum in Lusaka that the ban on the exports of Mukula was still in force as the government wanted to protect its natural resources.
