It’s very sad that some individuals are trying to downplay the significance of Hon. Harry Kalaba’s resignation by citing other people that resigned from their ministerial positions in the past. This is like refusing to congratulate a colleague for an achievement simply because you know other people that have made similar achievements in the past. It’s petty. In the last few weeks many of our friends have shared beautiful pictures of their graduation from various universities. Any reasonable person would simply post a congratulatory message and wish them well in their future endeavours. Not giving them a list of other people you know that graduated in the past. What kind of jealous is that??
Fact: Harry Kalaba is neither the first nor the last politician to resign from a ministerial Position. But let’s learn to just give credit where it’s due bane. Hon. Kalaba must be commended for his bold decision. The reasons for his resignation have highlighted several pertinent and contentious issues in our current leadership. These are current problems that need urgent attention.
We appreciate the politicians that resigned from government on moral grounds in the past. But they belong to our history now. Please don’t divert our attention from the issues that Hon. Harry Kalaba has raised. Massive corruption, illegal export of the mukala logs, Materialism, insatiable greed, business preferences and opportunities being tilted in favour of outsiders. These are the issues that should be our primary focus for now.
Blessings Kafwanka
Truth be told. It is morally right to distance yourself from injustice. Harry has justified his resignation and that’s his view. Discuss.
